A couple of years back Simon Green decided that he
wanted to do more than just DJ when he was out
promoting the epic, beautiful music he makes as
Bonobo.
Painstakingly he pieced together a live band that
could open his vision out live. Drums, keyboard,
guitar, sampler, himself on bass, a singer, a
saxophonist and a three piece string section. It
took time to pull it together but the results have
been spectacular.
From playing the Luminaire, the group are now
selling out venues like Koko and Forum in Kentish
Town. And the musical freedom that Green has found
has fed back into his studio music, so that the new
record he is currently completing promises to be
his best yet. This live DVD is interspersed with
interview footage with Bonobo.
Despite his unassuming demeanour, Green takes his
music very seriously. With 9 million listed plays
on Last FM and sell out shows, a lot of other
people are, too.

Bonobo set about building his style in the same way
he debunked the lazy journos who seemed intent on
labelling him chillout or downtempo. That is by
refusing to conform to the preconceived ideas of a
laid back style, and aiming headlong for the
dancefloor..
With a heavy mixture of hip hop, weighty jazz,
broken beats, Latin, funk, and soul, with the
occasional cheeky bit of psyche rock and drum and
bass thrown in just to keep you on your toes Bonobo
became a DJ of international repute. Now in true
innovator style Bonobo prepares to hit the stage at
Koko with a full live band, knockin it up another
notch, rubbing it in the faces of the downtempo
hacks with a hearty cry of æFuck the lounge, lets
danceÆ. Strings, horns, drums and vocals. A full
live band, more energy and a bigger, heavier sound,
this one is sure to rock Koko to itÆs foundations.
Supporting will be up and coming producer/DJ Kid
Kanevil. His live show will feature Testament on
the mic, Pete Williams on percussion, Laura J on
flute and a few very, very special guests!!!
All this and a DJ set from Rob Luis, BrightonÆs
favourite son. This is a must see show for all
those who love to celebrate the best in UK talent
and dance their asses off while they do it.
