Release Notes:
--------------
Seventeen noisy hits from indie rock favorites Oneida, Hella, Flying
Luttenbachers and more recorded live by WNUR, Chicago's Sound
Experiment. All tracks clean. All songs performed live on the airwaves
and collected here in one nifty little package!
ereÆs a new compilation of great indie, underground, and experimental
rock and roll music from ChicagoÆs Sound Experiment, WNUR 89.3 FM.
Seventeen great bands playing seventeen great songs, from here in
Chicago and all over the country. When cool bands come through Chicago,
we try our best to capture them and make them play music for our
listeners. In 15 years, weÆve managed to snag more than 900 bands. This
CD skims the tastiest sonic cream from the last five years and wraps it
up in a shiny package.
All of these tracks were recorded live in our studio, and are available
exclusively on this CD.
Whatever youÆre in the mood for, this CD has it:
* throbbing organ rock from Oneida and Point Line Plane
* the instrumental heroics of Hella and Oxes
* jagged no-wave punk rock from Ex-Models, Bride of No No, and X27
* scalp-shredding, amplifier-exploding noise and feedback from Hair
Police
* Chicago jazz-prog insanity from Lozenge, Cheer-Accident, and the
Flying Luttenbachers
* the skewed melodic beauty of Young People and Xiu Xiu
* demonic dancefloor favorites from Japanther, Paradise Island,
Neon Hunk, and Old Time Relijun
Now you can shake your butt, bang your head, and blow your mind with
one convenient disc!
Mastered by the one and only Weasel Walter, legendary Chicago drummer,
producer, and God of Chaos. He also performs here with the Flying
Luttenbachers.
* All tracks FCC clean
* No Japanese or Scandanavian names to mispronounce on the air
* A mix so good you can just put it on the air and tune out, and
everyone will think you are a genius
* All tracks rock really hard
