Techno mavens Bret Autrey and Collin Landis have been churning out
tunes as Christian underground outfit Voxis for nearly a decade. The
duo has become known in the scene for mixing futuristic, pulsating
synth riffs with searing guitar riffs and danceable beats to produce a
driving techno/industrial sound reminiscent of Argyle Park's
"Misanthrope" opus. Although most tracks are instrumental, some, like
"Fear's Song (Restrained Mix)", featured on the joint Flaming Fish
Music/N*Soul Records Electrapop compilation, released in late 1998, and
"Glamour Is A Calculated Risk", a tongue-in-cheek industrial rock
number included on Various Artists - Automata 6.0, released on Flaming
Fish Music in 2004, feature angelic female lead vocals. At least one
early song, "Once A Thief (Nagusame)", released on Flaming Fish Music's
Various Artists - Ballistic Test 7 compilation in 1999, featured
distorted male lead vocals and sounded somewhat similar to Massivivid
and Mortal/Fold Zandura.
Entrance to the Darkeworld
Years of patience and perseverance finally paid off in late 2006, when
the band's full-length debut album, Darkeworld: Project One was
released on Flaming Fish Music.
