Release Notes:
--------
It's a shame to hide a name like Markland Starkie's, yet his horror of the
singer-songwriter tag explains the misleadingly plural sobriquet. No chance of
confusing him with Jack Johnson, though. An album studded with found sounds
(crows' caws included) isn't your typical troubadour terrain, nor indeed are
allusions to Kafka and WG Sebald ("Rings of Saturn"). While recording in a
forest cabin is more predictable songwriter behaviour, Starkie has the edge over
Bon Iver et al: surrendering to these meandering harmonies and his mesmerising
voice is to feel thoroughly, wonderfully lost in those woods.
