As always, Renaissance delivers another fine dance compilation, this time
focusing on the current progressive scene and the artists whoÆve made it so
popular. The tracklisting spans the last five years, and many of these tracks
could quite easily be called the most of influential ones in progressive dance
music. UnderworldÆs æJuanitaÆ, LeftfieldÆs æNot ForgottenÆ and Cafe Del MarÆs
æEnergy 52Æ have all proven so popular on dancefloors the world over and
rightfully deserve their place in any progressive set. To accompany these
classics, Renaissance has put together a selection of current tracks from some
very respectable artists. This list really does read like a æWhoÆs WhoÆ of the
progressive scene - Riu Da Silva, Halo Vaga, Steve Lawler, Futureshock, BT,
Timo Maas, Humate, Bedrock, Breeder, Slacker, Sander Kleineberg, Way Out West,
Brothers in Rhythm, Darren Emerson and (of course) superstar DJ Sasha. These are
the artists who have made the scene such an exciting form of dance music.
æRenaissance Presents ProgressionÆ is in no way a æcheese festÆ, in fact, itÆs
quite the opposite - the overall sound of the album is really quite deep and dark
in places, with healthy amounts of drums, funky basslines, emotive vocals and
superb breakdowns. The more toned sound of the two mixes retains the darkness
which has become so commonly associated with progressive set, but sees it broken
up by well-timed layers of deeper and more euphoric trance numbers, making this
an enjoyable musical experience thatÆs far more accessible than many progressive
sets.
æRenaissance Presents ProgressionÆ is a dance compilation of very high calibre -
itÆs got plenty of great tracks from some outstanding artists and has plenty of
listening value bundled into it. ItÆs quality Renaissance all the way.
