Release Notes:
Michel Berthiaume is a drummer as well as a
composer. He has a bachelor and a masterÆs degree
in Jazz Performance on the drumset at McGill
University. He completed his formation with private
studies with John Riley in New York. Michel is very
active on the Montreal jazz scene performing
regularly with Steve Amirault, Jennifer Bell, Kenny
Bibace, Remi Bolduc, Greg Clayton, Kevin Dean, Ron
DiLauro, Michel Donato, John Geary, Fraser Hollins,
Jeff Johnston, Julie Lamontagne, Daniel Lessard,
Frank Lozano, Bill Mahar, Joel Miller, Josh Rager,
John Roney, Janis Stephrans, Dave Turner, Alec
Walkington, Dave Watts and Andre White. In the
summer of 2005, he did a Canadian tour with the
Toronto signer Sophie Milman. In June 2006, his
group, the Michel Berthiaume Quintet performed his
compositions on the GM stage at the Festival
International de Jazz de Montreal as a Grand Prix
de Jazz General Motors and Prix Etoiles Galaxie de
Radio Canada nominee. The groups he currently plays
with are: Holly Arsenault Trio, Michel Berthiaume
Quintet, Gaetan Daigneault Quartette, Richard
Gagnon Quintet, Brian Hurley Quartet, Carlos
Jimenez Quintette, Francois Stevenson Quartette,
Trombone action and Jean-Nicolas Trottier
