"Like Vampire Weekend and early James - the band absorb an African
guitar feel into their sound, with punchy ska horns and a vocal
delivery that owes a small debt to Alex Turner." - Q
Crafty London melody merchants The Molotovs have announced details of
their debut mini album And The Heads Did Roll released through Fierce
Panda, available from the 5th October 2009. The album is preceded by
the single Come To Grief, available now.
The five members of The Molotovs follow the eloquent home grown pop
lineage that runs from The Kinks to the Mystery Jets and combine it
with their own love of poetry and fable, carving a sound that is
jittery and yet oddly atmospheric. They write songs, which are both
rousing and melancholic. Come to Grief will also feature a special
acoustic, stripped down version of heart wrenching ballard 'Strange
Mind'
Over the past few months they have toured with The Boxer Rebellion,
played the BBC Introducing Stage at Glastonbury, headlined the BMI
sessions at London's 229 venue and supported fierce panda mgmt stable
mates The Ruling Class at their midsummer 100 Club show.
