It was clear from an early age Corey was heading straight for a life
in music. His childhood nickname was æMusic ManÆ because of his
immediate attention drawn to the sounds of all types of music. Now
his sounds enable him to collaborate with one of his childhood
heroine Robin S.
Corey and his family moved to New York and his early years were spent
learning to spin reggae and hip-hop in Brooklyn.
On the house tip, Corey moved to the Balearic island of Ibiza in the
summer of 2005. Corey has been working intensely in the studio
producing and mixing during the summer season.
In 2007 Corey Gibbons (aka Kawa) had a very clear vision of where he
wanted to take his label Kawa Music. Corey understood from the outset
the importance of getting everything right.
2008 saw Corey with his own label night We Play Ibiza radio show on
Hot FM in Malaga, Spain along with his residency at Plato68. He was
also the resident DJ for Miss Moneypenny at Pangaea, Puerto Banus and
legendary clubbing brand Cream on the Costa Del Sol with guests such
as Carl Cox, John Digweed, Steve Angello, Dirty South to name a few.
On the production side Corey released ôSecret Rainbow"peaked at No.
11 UK Upfront Club Charts in September 2008 and ôChocolate Lovingö
peaked at No. 7 in the UK Upfront Club Charts in May 2008 and No. 6
in M8 Magazine June Publication.
CoreyÆs current release is a collaboration with Robin S û At My Best
with initial entry in the UK Cool Cuts Chart at No. 14 and gain
support with the initial No. 23 entry in Beatport House Sales Charts.
2009 See Corey and his music going on a global level both on radio
and in the clubs. Corey states "At the moment I am happy and
dedicated to push on in the future".
