trikont's first compilation of the contemporary urban sounds of turkey
'beyond istanbul - underground grooves of turkey' in 2006 went on a
long musical journey - now this follow up compilation, compiled by
dj ipek ipekcioglu, goes one step further. this album contains music
from musicians of turkish decent - starting from soul via hip hop over
trip-hop to balkan sounds, as well as dance styles of the roma, plus
chansons and electronic beats. even with these differences, the music
is united by tradition, streaming all the various musical styles from
turkey into a journey that is about istanbul's club and sub culture
that likes to live in the here and now. it features fairuz derin bulut
and ceza, birki c, orientation, sema, zafer erdas, sultan tunc featuring
yuzzuf kenan, dj ipek ipekcioglu and pasha vs baba zula, asik veysel,
mira etc.
