Illusion Of Safety's Dan Burke teams up with fellow sound
sculptor Thomas Dimuzio for fifteen tracks of strange,
malformed sonic textures and fragmented noise, all of which
somehow fits together into a continuously mixed whole. Despite
the fact that this arrives courtesy of No Fun Productions, you
can hear old-fashioned, more formal electronic practices
shaping the structure of this music, with elements of field
recording and classic electroacoustic techniques appearing
amongst the less discerning passages of squirming drone and
industrial unpleasantness. A messy, disjointed piece of work,
Upcoming Events mixes murky, agonising collage with moments of
compelling beauty and resonance, making this an unsettled and
ambiguous work, but one that's not without its rewards.
