Release Notes:
This autumn, the mysterious due known only as Silver Columns will
release their debut single, the crystalline piece of wayward electro
pop that is 'Brow Beaten'. Not much else is known about them at this
point - not the identities of the people behind the music, not even the
label (the vinyl will be a white label release only).
'Brow Beaten', with its luscious mixture of skittishly propulsive
beats, insidious basslines and cooing vocals, heralds the arrival of an
exciting new band to the proud lineage of offbeat pop, not to mention a
thrilling introduction to the off-kilter oeuvre of Silver Columns.
Mashing influences as disparate as Bronski Beat and Arther Russell,
they create an instant classic sound that sounds equally at home on the
dancefloor as in the bedroom, on a night out and a night in. Backed
with a remix by Joe Goddard from Hot Chip, this is undoubtedly the
beginning of something great.
