█│ The band Gammalapagos is founded in 1999 on the │█
█│ occasion of a school project. In the beginning the │█
█│ four school mates cover songs which can be described │█
█│ as (pop)rock/punk. They call themselves Lunchbox. The│█
█│ band begins to perform live at school events and │█
█│ composes first songs which stylistically are close to│█
█│ the songs they covered earlier. Their first recording│█
█│ follows in 2001 which contains six home- recorded │█
█│ tracks. The name of both the band and the EP at this │█
█│ time is Ignis Fatuus. First gigs at clubs and small │█
█│ festivals are to follow. The second recording session│█
█│ takes place in a local club the same year and is │█
█│ called I`m a man. In 2002 the band takes part in │█
█│ several band contests. Among them Soundcheck in │█
█│ Dresden, New Chance in Halle and Local Heroes in │█
█│ Salzwedel where they take the first place. This │█
█│ success earns the band some new listeners and another│█
█│ CD production which becomes a four song single called│█
█│ "Pieces of a music". Following this the band is asked│█
█│ to play at the "Ringfest" within the famous music │█
█│ festival "Popkomm" in Cologne. This happens in 2003, │█
█│ the same year the band gets to know Michael Gabriel │█
█│ at a gig in Halle, a Scottish musician and owner of a│█
█│ studio. He becomes their mentor and manager and │█
█│ Gammalapagos record their first album aaaao in his │█
█│ studio in Halle in summer 2003. It is released by │█
█│ Vervetone the indie label that Gabriel founded │█
█│ himself. In 2004 the four band members move to │█
█│ Leipzig where they play at the city's local clubs. │█
█│ The recordings for the ten tracks of the second LP │█
█│ Happily Ever After, that are somewhat more │█
█│ time-consuming than the previous ones, last from │█
█│ summer 2004 to spring 2005. │█
