│ Summer is here, and the Chalant posse is back with another ││
│ wave of Texas heat. "Alamo Funk", the long-awaited sixth ││
│ release for Austin-based Chalant Music, is the latest from ││
│ Eddie Scott -- better known as SPETTRO -- whose impressive ││
│ discography includes releases on Aroma, Big Chief, Brique ││
│ Rouge, Simple Soul, Bosh, Amenti Music and more. With ││
│ support from such heavy hitters as David Duriez, Mazi, Jay ││
│ J, Chris Lum, and Phil Weeks, this San Antonio-based ││
│ producer has quickly joined house music's elite. ││

│ The EP begins with the instant crowd pleaser Family in Mind, ││
│ already looking to become a summer anthem. Spettro enlists a ││
│ few of San Antonio's finest for this warm vibey affair, ││
│ featuring live bass, guitar, and percussion parts alongside ││
│ the infectious scat vocals of Ron Horne. Family in Mind is ││
│ deep, sexy house music, with a touch of latin flavor and ││
│ Spettro's impeccable production. Perfect for big room club ││
│ play, but equally at home in the park on a Sunday afternoon. ││

│ Family in Mind gets the remix treatment from Chalant's own ││
│ Crackanice. The dynamic duo featuring Chalant A&R Merrick ││
│ Brown (Tektite, Harmonious Discord, Safe in Sound) and ││
│ Thomas Sahs (Select, Safe in Sound, Doubledown) give ││
│ Spettro's soulful groover a bit of Chi-town shuffle. Jackin' ││
│ hi-hats and wobbly sub-bass highlight stripped down versions ││
│ of the original guitar and vocal parts with plenty of ││
│ dynamic change-ups for the DJs. Watch out for the break ││
│ where acidic undertones and twisted vocal effects turn the ││
│ mix on its side -- reminiscent of Freaks, Tony Senghore or ││

│ sustained vocals slowly emerge providing a nice contrast to ││
│ the darker rhythmic layers below. Lyla's Groove is a ││
