Hailing from East London and the successor to popular Basingstoke quartet 'The
Misnomer,' 'Atom Gang' are a trio who play a unique brand of melodic rock.
Combining all the best of their varied influences, with quirky riffs, strong
basslines, powerful drums and distinctive catchy vocals, the band have released
2 cds, toured extensively and become known for their incredible live show. Be
sure to catch them while you can and see why Big Cheese Magazine listed them in
their Top 10 bands to watch in 2009.
Review from Punktastic.com:
Out of all the Punktastic Recordings alumni, itÆs my personal belief that Atom
Gang are the most underrated. When they released ôI Seeö, Said The Blind Man
late in 2008, I declared it my album of the year. The songs took unexpected
turns that resulted in them finishing as far away as possible from where they
began, and it was something of a lyrical masterpiece û the whole affair was a
real adventure.
With this new three track EP, itÆs business as usual then. Ellis SlaterÆs vocals
are still dripping in sarcasm and bitterness, while the musical arrangement is
as awkward as it is infectious. æThe Death Of UsÆ has a Dookie-era Green Day
feel to it, while æHoney Chase The DragonÆ is genuinely spine-chilling with itÆs
ghostly æwoo oohÆ backing vocals. æA Hungry BurnÆ is more of a straight-up rock
æn roll number, that dives between its ludicrously catchy chorus and darker
verses with such a fervent speed, it leaves you exhausted by the time itÆs done.
The thing that separates Atom Gang from most other acts around today, is the
sheer variety of sound and emotion they manage to lay down in a single song.
TheyÆre as poppy as they are unconventional, and this little three track EP
encapsulates the bandÆs ability to cover such a vast musical ground. I genuinely
believe that in the right hands, Atom Gang could be huge û hereÆs to this EP
falling into them.
