That the musical chameleon Mardi Gras.bb now with its fourth
album does not want to stop reinventing itself anew, is evidence
of imprudent rudeness towards the conventions of mainstream,
successful pop biz and of that creative restlessness that has
always defined great bands. The brand new LP of the Mannheim
brass dissidents presents itself as nostalgic and chansonesque as
the grand debut "Alligatorsgroup", as black, gravitatingly groovy
and explicity funky as earlier "Supersmell", as dusty and
desperate as its predecessor "Zen Rodeo". As if the three
preceding albums had just markedthe aesthetic coordinate system
that now serves as creative playing ground, the eleven-member
band now succeeds with HEAT in uniting all the positive features
of earlier releases. Even more radical and concise, the vision of
the sacralization of the trivial defines itself as a proposal to
the postmodern era. From the Orcus, the depth of the multimedial
basic rushing, Doctor Wenz lifts up his very own system of values
based on the creative arbitrariness of the non-conformist. In
doing so, le Doctuer du Son succeeds in giving his original broth
patchworkof musical bowing and sound reminiscences both explosive
power and authenticity in an impressive way. Along with the usual
creole patterns, stoic dj grooves are anchoring vivid second-line
funk in the here and now, melody fragments that have been
playfully elevated announce obvious closeness to HipHop and Escy
Listening of days gone by, without, however, dissolving itself in
it. Wonderful that artistic relevance can be so danceable.
Enjoy this early copy, spreading this on p2p networks will make
pre music a rare thing in the future.
