matthew "flat tyre" herbert is one of the rare producers of the
late 90s to have succeeded in developing his own truly original
style : an unorthodox take on breakbeat (doctor rockit) and house
music (herbert). on this solid ether ep he demonstrates his
"savoir faire" with his brilliant remixes of ambient jazz guru
nils peter molvaer. "merciful (herbert's we mix)" has it all,
killer vocal distilling moodiness all over the track, stomping
house kick and clever bassline. "solid ether (herbert's horn mix)"
is an equally innovative production and both tracks are absolute
musts. original, innovative and easy music.
