│ AMG EXPERT REVIEW: It is always a bit painful to hear creative jazz │
│ musicians play well below their potential and it would not be an │
│ overstatement to say that altoist Lou Donaldson is capable of much │
│ better than the music heard on this CD. His calypso "West Indian │
│ Daddy" is okay (if not at all memorable), he jams reasonably well │
│ on the driving blues "Minor Bash" and plays honestly (if overly │
│ straight) on "Over the Rainbow." But the three other tracks are │
│ throwaways, trumpeter Blue Mitchell shows so little personality │
│ that the unknown Eddie Williams (who replaces Mitchell on two cuts) │
│ proves to be his equal and the rhythm section (with either Lonnie │
│ Smith or Charles Earland on organ) does little except chug away. │
│ This set is a major disappointment. │
│ │
│ That's AMG's view, but i find it a very nice album.. │
