The fourth Office Building album, enjoy!
In just four years Office Building has developed into one of the most
Critically acclaimed groups in Finland. After their first album, To
See Only Shadows (Fonal Records, 2000), the band became a huge cult
favourite in Alternative circles and their position was only
strengthened by their second effort, Across The Sleeping Seas (Aisti
Records, 2001). The third album, The Sun Hit The Water (Aisti Records,
2003), is a result of a natural progression, the band's most melodic
and accessible album to date.
As Soundi, the biggest monthly music magazine in Finland, put it: "An
Album impossible not to fall in love with." Throughout the years
Office Building has drawn favourable comparisons: people hear the same
kind of quality in singer-songwriter Janne Laurila's songs as they
hear in Neil Young's, Ron Sexsmith's or even Hank Williams' output.
With the new album, Office Building explores its boundaries even
further: among the best tracks are She Appeared To Me (a timeless
sixties love song reminiscent of the late great Roy Orbison), The Door
To The Room Of Your Heart (a fast and furious gypsy-rocker in a
genuine Bad Seeds style), a radio hit Crystal Clear (imagine The
Smiths writing a happy tune) and Keep Walking On (the perfect country
ballad).
Office Building continues to make music that is, in another
journalist's words, "familiar but unique". Or as yet another hack
wrote, "music for music itself, without pressure of the past".
