It's easy to reduce Emiliana Torrini to her ▄ber-Hit äJungle Drumô. But we
shouldn't, that wouldn't be fair on the Islandic singer. Still, we do have to
agree: äJungle Drumô is indisputably THE summer hit 2009 - The lightness of
Emiliana Torrini's voice, her unique vocal timbre of the chorus ôMy heart is
beating like a jungle drumô and, of course, the catchy jungle drum beat itself,
which is actually completely sung by Torrini. Wonderful! But Emiliana Torrini is
no new face in the music business. Her first stage appearance was as the voice
of the successful band GusGus, her solo career started in 1995. Since then she's
collaborated with numerous stars in the music industry like writing hits for
Kylie Minogue (ôSlowô). Central to Torrini's music, however, is her unique
voice, which has often been compared to Bj÷rk. äMe and Arminiô, her fifth studio
album, was released at the end of 2008 and has proven quite a commercial
success. Apart from the aforementioned summer hit, 32-year-old Emiliana Torrini
has written a beautiful collection of different songs drifting between Acoustic
Pop, Folk, Indie and deeply touching ballads with more hit potential!
