The debut recording by Take 6 is still their finest set.
Comprised of six singers performing a cappella, Take 6's
message was always strictly gospel, but their advanced
harmonies, impressive ranges, and swinging style often
crossed over stylistically to jazz. Some of their ensembles
are quite remarkable on this CD, and their interpretations of
originals and such songs as "Oh Mary, Don't You Weep," "Get
Away, Jordan," and "He Never Sleeps" invigorate both gospel
music and the legacy of jazz vocal groups. A classic set.
