Release Notes:
Cecil Otter and Dessa shared a cd release show, both releasing
"False Hopes" efforts. Both are members of the Doomtree
Collective, most recognizable now that P.O.S. received such
critical acclaim on his debut, "Ipecac Neat".
Bringing you the dense rhymes and weight-of-the-world beats, Cecil
Otter is the self-described hick philosopher and party hound. This
album has been 4 years in the making.
-----------
Cecil always dreamed of being an entertainer. From the age of
three he was performing for his family and their friends, and had
already begun writing songs by the age of seven. His parents were
supportive, though they were reluctant to pimp their child out to
the industry. So Cecil took it upon himself to make it big.
Although he denies finding inspiration in pop singer Tiffany, her
mid-eightees success story was undoubtably a catalyst for him. By
the age of eleven, Cecil was setting up impromptu performances
outside of malls and supermarkets. Crowds would gather for his
intense, heartfelt renditions of classics like "Never Gonna Give
You Up" and "Hip to Be Square." Just after being asked to leave
the grounds one afternoon at Walgreen's in 1993, an A&R rep from
Rap-A-Lot with a bag full of tropical ointments suggested that
Cecil "shut the fuck up for the rest of ever." Otter refocused his
goals to prove that rap rep wrong. And the rest is history.
