The EPs opening track Air Breathe is a light-hearted affair. off-beat synth
punches keep the tune together while smooth horns glide through it, giving it a
beautiful freeform, ambient feel.
Those very horns form the backbone of Octad's excellent remix. underneath it,
subsonic bass rumbles, subtle breaks and classic detroit percussion layer and
build into one of those grooves you could listen to all night.
That feeling of space is magnified in Casa Mia as rich, vintage synth washes
flow around energetic rhythms, all nicely punctuated by latin horns.
If you know Barcelona, the name Jaume I will conjure up a certain feeling -
leaving the shadowy city and heading for beach.
The perfect soundtrack for your escape. Jaume I is a tracky, driving tune with
bass tones you can really get your arms round. But its spacious, airy strings
and light-touch percussion breeze through the track and lift it perfectly.
Somebody takes the EP in a slightly housier direction. A Thomas Bangalter-style
rhythm and buzzing electronic bass stabs provide a frenetic heart beat, over
which claps, pianos and timbales compete for dominance.
