▓████▓▌ At the time of their only UK chart entry, this ▓▌
▓████▓▌ British instrumental jazz-rock fusion band ▓▌
▓████▓▌ comprised Ian Carr, Jeff Clyne, Karl Jenkins, Jon ▓▌
▓████▓▌ Marshall, Brian Smith and Chris Spedding. Founded ▓▌
▓████▓▌ and led by trumpeter Carr, Nucleus were given a ▓▌
▓████▓▌ good launching by winning first prize at the ▓▌
▓████▓▌ Montreux International Festival in 1970. In that ▓▌
▓████▓▌ same year their debut albumElastic Rock reached ▓▌
▓████▓▌ No.46 on the British chart. The title was intended ▓▌
▓████▓▌ to signify the group's musical stance: rock should ▓▌
▓████▓▌ not adhere rigidly to its own form but should ▓▌
▓████▓▌ sometimes be prepared to merge with other styles. ▓▌
▓████▓▌ Along with Colosseum and Soft Machine, Nucleus were ▓▌
▓████▓▌ part of a wave of British jazz-rock bands whose ▓▌
▓████▓▌ members were drawn from both genres. Although ▓▌
▓████▓▌ Nucleus never returned to the British chart, they ▓▌
▓████▓▌ continued releasing albums on a regular basis from ▓▌
▓████▓▌ 1970 until 1980. Carr was the only constant factor ▓▌
▓████▓▌ in an often changing line-up and the outfit won ▓▌
▓████▓▌ considerable reputation for their highly improvised ▓▌
▓████▓▌ yet disciplined playing. Among theirhighlights were ▓▌
▓████▓▌ We'll Talk About It Later, the title track from ▓▌
▓████▓▌ their second LP (1970) and Solar Plexus (1971) ▓▌
▓████▓▌ which was the first rock record to be subsidised by ▓▌
