For plate 5.3 of the Hyperdub series the label pairs off Quarta330 and LV for
two fine examples of fractal 8-bit dub. Of all the producers meddling with
chiptune-and-bass combinations, from Samiyam to Dorian Concept, Quarta330 is
among the furthest out practitioners, furrowing his own rococo grooved style
with heavy subbass underpinning his sharply morphing melodics. 'Bleeps From
Outer Space' is probably one of the most cosmic tracks in the Hyperdub
catalogue next to his previous 12", connecting the disparate dots between
grime, Tokyo and future bass. On the flipside LV show another application for
the saccharine qualities of 8-Bit melodics applying a cochlea-cutting riff
like a dash of lemon to their dubby-but-punchy digi-riddim brew 'Turn Away'.
