"three members from brussels and one afro-antwerper around a
post-techno hip-hop mix, together with horns and other acoustic
instruments, these are the rich paradoxes that the neven group
breeds: peter clasen, musical engine of the band, his brother
johan on horns, toon derison and melki zedec, who's amplified
lyrics draw from cartoons... an original encounter of technology,
often too cold techno (but not here), with the warmth of acoustic
sounds, in an improvised mode borrowed from jazz. it has rhythm
yet remains destabilizing; it's for the mind yet it has a playful
attitude. having multiple influence drawing from an already remote
near past of electronic music (one can guess meat beat manifesto
or art of noise), funk (prince), jazz and the most current trends
in house and drum'n'bass, blending technology and real instruments
together, this belgian acts miraculously achieves an alchemy that
can surprise the unaware, and please the hard-boiled adventurous
listener."
