Malcolm Blake (also known as Blake Lucid) has been influenced by a
wide variety of styles and artists. When in his early teens he
listened to everything he could find and would later develop a
penchant for material with an electronic edge to it. One such early
influence would be 'Emerson, Lake and Palmer' who captivated the
youngster through their dramatic layered prog rock infused with mad
synth prowess delivered via the Moog and Hammond Organ of Keith
Emerson's arsenal. As a lad Malcolm was influenced by his fathersÆ
record collection which was composed of mostly prog, psychedelic,
folk and early electronica. At age 12, Malcolm began listening to a
local radio broadcast of dance music, which had a marked influence on
his future endeavors. He was exposed to many dance varieties and a
collection of artists too many to name, all of which have culminated
in where he is musically now.

The young manÆs forays into his own music-making began at the age of
16 on a very basic sequencer and soon he was creating dance music. At
the time he was big into the progressive and techno sounds of Seb
Fontaine and Deep Dish and was heavily influenced by Sasha and
Digweed's ground breaking 'Northern Exposure' mixes and also Paul
Oakenfold's 'Travelling' on Perfecto. Curiosity would lead to further
scrutiny of the 4/4 and contemplating the myriad of sonic treats that
could be allotted in the middle. Constantly learning and getting to
grips with the ever changing technology his productions spiraled and
     twisted into new forms daily.

Divulging in an array of different styles he formed an alias as Blake
Lucid in 2006 as an output for his techno and house productions.
Admiring the ability of artists in this field to use (and abuse)
technology to coax weird and wonderful aural delicacies out of the
machine, he endeavored to create his own unique brand of the style.

Blake Lucid introduces himself to the world of Gut Feel with Ilomini.
Hailing from South AfricaÆs playground, Durban, Blake Lucid aka
Malcolm Blake is one half of the popular electronica duo called
Seake, who perform their unique live shows country wide on a regular
basis. Since the minimal styled Seake remix of Ryan Sullivan's Way In
was released on Perc Trax late in 2008, Malcolm has been buried in
the studio but we managed to pull him out for a second to be able to
     bring you Ilominià

The original mix of Ilomini is an uplifting prog style song with a
deep, memorable and emotional melody boasting plenty of movement to
hold interest throughout the song while the Dark Mix dives a little
deeper and harder. More journey, more edge! Loaded with interesting
synthetic sounds, the Dark Mix keeps evolving and keeps the floor
     shaking.
