│ The exploration of unexplained phenomena and man has always been │
│ metaphorically implied as the cat chasing its own tale. │
│ The deeper we explore the more un-precise, overwhelming and │
│ phantasmagorical the search becomes. Aliens and the theory of │
│ images procured by our own consciousness, hauntings as ESP, │
│ premonitions of near future events. It is no wonder many intelligent │
│ researchers, theorists, junkies and musicians are using phenomena │
│ studies to promote new ideas: as the case with extraterrestrial │
│ manipulators Richard Schneider and M.W. Burch of schloss tegal. │
│ the soul extinguished a re-release of an inflicting LP, delves into │
│ unknown territories of horror and nightmare, grinding out fearful │
│ effigies of accosting para-normal phenomena. │
│ This album screams when you want to. Almost all the tracks │
│ utilize hetero hypnosis through filtered voice samples, and Erie │
│ repetitious found sounds. It reads on the cover art(very Karminik-ish) │
│ that Rschneider plays a human thighbone trumpet, but I found it │
│ quite difficult to dissect a certain instrument out of the various │
│ programmed and processed degrees, of sound adhered │
│ to each montage. The Human Thigh Bone Trumpet crests slightly on track │
│ nine maleficio: over riding droning harsh power-electronics, sounding in │
│ some ways similar to the Australian aboriginal instrument, the didgeridoo. │
│ It has taken nearly ten listens to actually sit down and write any │
│ form of review. │
│ The theories and ideas announced by schloss tegal are as I have │
│ tried to describe: dark, lurking and unexplainable. │
│ The use of minimal sound scapes and abducting samples to shape │
│ their miasma, are what give the compositions the claustrophobic │
│ surrealism, maybe not intended for the explained or orthodox. │
│ But to those wanting to inflict a sense of walking │
│ through someone elses nightmare, │
│ or witnessing a slaughtering of your conventions. │
