│ │█ Magga Stina started to play rock'n'roll on
│ │█ the violin with some mates in 1985 which
│ │█ turned into a proper band in 1988, a band
│ │█ called Reptile in which she sang and played
│ │█ the violin. Reptile recorded an album in
│ │█ english with Ken Thomas as producer to be
│ │█ released abroad and toured Europe and the
│ │█ States, supporting the Sugarcubes and doing
│ │█ own shows. The music press was ecstatic, and
│ │█ one of their singles was single of the week
│ │█ in NME. Later, Magga Stina joined an
│ │█ prehistoric funk outfit called Funkstrasse
│ │█ as a singer and Konrad B's Big Band, playing
│ │█ swing jazz on the violin. At the same time
│ │█ she started to write her own songs. She
│ │█ recorded some demos and started shopping
│ │█ around for a deal, signing in the end to One
│ │█ Little Indian in 1997. Magga's first album,
│ │█ An Album, came out in '98, produced by
│ │█ Graham Massey (808 State). To follow the
│ │█ album Magga put together a band called
│ │█ Bikarmeistararnir (the Cup winners). Members
│ │█ of the band are Matti - percussion, Addi -
│ │█ drums, Gudni -bass and Petur guitar and
│ │█ lap-steel. Magga and the band have received
│ │█ rave reviews for their brilliant mix of
│ │█ bossanova, metal, disco and balkan music and
│ │█ their crazy live performance where there are
│ │█ no holds barred.
