│ "Electronic Underground" is the re-release on CD of a cassette │
│ originally published in 1997. According to the band, the tracks have │
│ been re-worked from the original tape, and only some of the old │
│ titles are present here (some seems to have been so modified │
│ that they have been given new names). │
│ │
│ Megaptera's music is heavy, slow, oppressive, and sometimes distorted. │
│ Echoed drummings are the rhythms for threatening evolution of noisy │
│ soundscapes and very low pitched saturated tones. The first two tracks │
│ are brillant examples of this style, as is "Hypnotic Fear", with its │
│ distant percussions and continuous chilling "wind". │
│ All in all, this release is dark and creates very esphyxiating │
│ atmospheres. Without being really violent or aggressive │
│ (no high pitch feedback or screams here), Megaptera │
│ reaches his goal of erecting a thick and dense obscurity │
│ (just listen to "Power Vibrations" for an example of this talent). │
│ │
│ "Electronic Underground" is a very strong release. │
│ Event though it has a slight old school feeling, this is death │
│ industrial at its best. For example, anybody who liked │
│ Catharsis's Homo Homini Lupus CD on Black Plagve should │
│ check out this Megaptera CD, to see where this sound │
│ comes from. The band has never been signed on │
│ Cold Meat Industry, but this is exactly what every fan of this │
│ label should listen to right now. Very recommended, this is a CD │
│ to which you'll probably come back everytime you want to │
│ summon some dark atmospheres. │
