▓████▓▌ his career as the rhythm guitarist for Count ▓▌
▓████▓▌ Basie's Orchestra, it is not surprising that ▓▌
▓████▓▌ Freddie Green led relatively few recording sessions ▓▌
▓████▓▌ of his own. In fact, other than a Concord album ▓▌
▓████▓▌ co-led with Herb Ellis and four titles from 1945, ▓▌
▓████▓▌ Green's only date as a leader was a 12-song RCA set ▓▌
▓████▓▌ from 1955 with a septet including trumpeter Joe ▓▌
▓████▓▌ Newman, trombonist Henry Coker, Al Cohn on tenor, ▓▌
▓████▓▌ pianist Nat Pierce, bassist Milt Hinton, and either ▓▌
▓████▓▌ Jo Jones or Osie Johnson on drums. This single CD ▓▌
▓████▓▌ has that blues-oriented and lightly swinging set, ▓▌
▓████▓▌ plus a similar set led by Cohn titled The Natural ▓▌
▓████▓▌ Seven. The latter date has a nearly identical group ▓▌
▓████▓▌ with Cohn, Green, Newman, trombonist Frank Rehak, ▓▌
