WOW .. there is a story behind this record that could be material for
a 70s ganster movie.
This record was originaly realesed by Wlodek Gulgowski and Maritza
Horn (wich is in my opinion a better singer than Belinda Bell)
Maritza Horn was signed to Vincent Senice Swedish "Senice Enterprise"
recordlabel (money laundry buissness) and at that time he used to own
a famous resturant in Stockhom, Sweden, anyway ..
A famous swedish female jazz vocalist heard that vincent had signed
and recorded a record with "sweet little" Maritza and got upset,
coz at the time of the recording he was famous for beeing affiliated
and involved in maffia buissnes.
She Takes a cab out to a suburb of Stockholm called SΣtra, gets
Maritza and goes by the G÷tgatsbacken and buyes 2 bottles of
"moonshine booze" and heads to Vincent appartment.
Once up in Vincents appartment she demands to buy all the copies of
the vinyl with Maritza (approx 5 boxes of vinyls).
but vincent feels that something is up when The famous jazz singer
ask him to release Maritza from the record contract for a
considerable amount of money. Vincet gets furious and refuses too
release Maritza from the contract.
Maritza and The jazz singer leaves the appartment and the jazz singer
tells Maritza too refuse to coopeate with Vincents wants (Maritza and
Vincent had a relationship at the time). Maritza dont show up at
rehersals and meetings set up by Vincent. Vincent goes beserk and
puts surveilance on Maritza .. a black mercedes with shaded windows
that follows Maritza around wherever she goes.
Finaly vincent gives up and Lets Maritza out of the contract with the
word "Youre never gonna be someone in showbiz, you have too small
breasts"
... vincent takes the master tape and travels togheter with Wlodek
Gulgowski to England and finds Belinda Bell who redoes/sings the
record .. with a slight new mixdown (the drums are mixed higher) ...
and by looking at the cover all i can say is that Belinda got bigger
breasts that Maritza.
Additional info on Vincent Senice:
Vincet where a really shady type and by hearsay he used to walk
around with no shirt or a buttoned up shirt with a revolver stuff
down his pants. Apperently "Senice" was a Bougus name, he claimed
himself to be from Lichtenstein but apperently that was all bogus and
to avoid taxes (hes real name is suppose to be "Bjuhrman" by hearsay)
..
Anyway a couple of years later he was arrested for biting the off (as
in litterary off) a nipple on stripper at a festivity related to a
yearly market in the village of "Kivik" (Kiviks marknad).
Comparing the records:
Well besides the slightly higher mixing of the drums, and that
Belinda got a stronger voice, the tracklisting is identical with the
exception that Vincent dosent stand as songwriter on the maritz
version.
Listend to the lyrics, all lyrics are supposed to be about Vincents
life .. he had high flying thought about himself .. and was planning
to make a movie about his life that was supposed to be simply called
"Vincent" (as the trackname) ..
well .. thats all from the world of useless info for this time ..
Be shure to check out track: a1 and a4 .. the rest of the record isnt
alluvthat .. but worth a listen with the above story in mind
