Rapidly proving himself to be one of Sweden's leading jazz guitar
players Johan Leijonhufvud is presented here in his third CD for
Sittel. Reverting back to the trio format he joins with two of his
favourite musicians: Christian Spering on bass and Peter Nilsson on
drums. In a live recording from Cosmopolitan Caf╚ in Malmê in October
2000 the trio interprets nine compositions of which five are written
by Johan including the title track "Eurolines". The moods range from
energetic and intense to laid back and relaxed, the working name for
this album being: "With as few do's and don'ts as possible". As Johan
states, this means the music can go in any direction at all. It can
be anything from free-form to traditional. The live recording
captures the trio in an inspired session where group interplay is
strikingly in evidence.
