uk guitarist eddie roberts has conquered the global deep funk
scene with his storming band the new mastersounds - fans include
keb darge, kenny 'dope' gonzalez, gilles peterson, cut chemist,
quantic, dj shadow (need we go on ?). now cooker records is proud
to present 'the other side of eddie roberts' ! going back to his
jazz roots, but with a 21st century update, "diggin' around" is
taken from eddie's debut album "roughneck", due for release on
cooker records in spring 2003. four cuts ranging from the original
hard bop jazz mix, harking back to the 80's jazzdance scene (paul
murphy, electric ballroom, baz fe jazz, the wag, dingwalls, idj
etc), to the morawietz nu-jazz rerub. tom smith gives it a dirty
tech-jazz flavour, whilst eddie himself turns in a nice deep jazz
house remix, where the subtle 4/4 kick complements the live
instruments. we think there's something here for everyone...so buy
it and play it ! allready a jazz rooms classic! reaction from russ
dewbury(jazz bop/jazz rooms-brighton) to eddies 12
