Brit producer Richard Norris (known for being one half of The Grid and Beyond
the Wizard's Sleeve) dispenses three great tracks of pigeonhole-evading
psychedelic prog-disco on this latest release for the Tirk label. 'More Cowbell'
lifts a bassline from somewhere in the Death In Vegas or Add N To (X) songbook
and spirals off into cosmic weirdness with a flurry of percussion (and yes,
there is an awful lot of cowbell going around). 'Mushroom Family' is distinctly
more cult-ish, putting together memorable psych-rock organ riffs, tranced out,
wordless vocals and deadly precise dancefloor rhythms, while finally, the title
track slips into a heady swirl of modal krautrock. Ace.
