Rope's mainman is Janek Siegele, who had 10 years of classical music
education, but used to frustrate teachers by trying to improvise
everything from boogie woogie to Thelonious Monk. Influenced in part
by classical composers like Olivier Messiaen, Stravinsky, Ravel,
Dubussy, Prokoliev, Isang Hyun right through to the Beastie Boys.
Basically the antithesis of uninventive so-called 'alternative' rock
and grunge. Style: relaxed, electronic, dubby, vibrant.
