▓████▓▌ one EP, Last Night I Saw God on the Dance Floor, ▓▌
▓████▓▌ that came out of nowhere to be chosen as the #2 ▓▌
▓████▓▌ record of 2001 by the BBC New Music Room and to ▓▌
▓████▓▌ garner acclaim from distinguished press around the ▓▌
▓████▓▌ world. Critics hailed ôJohnny Fontaineö as a ▓▌
▓████▓▌ first-rate young songwriter with an acute ability ▓▌
▓████▓▌ to communicate directly and passionately with the ▓▌
▓████▓▌ listener. His work earned him comparisons to highly ▓▌
▓████▓▌ talented contemporaries like Elliot Smith, as well ▓▌
▓████▓▌ as the greats in the pantheon of classic ▓▌
▓████▓▌ songwriters, such as Neil Young and Paul Simon. ▓▌
▓████▓▌ This little album that could earned Maestro ▓▌
▓████▓▌ Echoplex invitations to perform at festivals in ▓▌
▓████▓▌ Amsterdam (VPRO Festival, June 2002) and Belgium ▓▌
▓████▓▌ (Dour Festival, July 2002) alongside the likes of ▓▌
▓████▓▌ Howe Gelb, Dirty Three, and Idaho. ▓▌

▓████▓▌ ThereÆs only one problem: As far as we can tell, ▓▌
▓████▓▌ ôJohnny Fontaineö does not now, nor did he ever, ▓▌
▓████▓▌ exist. It remains unclear as to whether he is a ▓▌
▓████▓▌ fictitious entity or merely the product of some ▓▌
▓████▓▌ type of schizophrenic delusion. Unsettling, to be ▓▌
▓████▓▌ certain. And if there is no such person as Johnny ▓▌
▓████▓▌ Fontaine, then whatever deviant was behind the ▓▌
▓████▓▌ curtain was actually utilizing not one, but two ▓▌
▓████▓▌ layers of pseudonym. ▓▌
▓████▓▌ ▓▌
▓████▓▌ But the past is the past, and the present is the ▓▌
▓████▓▌ present, and perhaps all that needs be said is that ▓▌
▓████▓▌ what was formerly a lonely little solo project with ▓▌
▓████▓▌ a phantom mastermind has now grown into a real, ▓▌
▓████▓▌ honest-to-god band. Usually it seems to happen the ▓▌
▓████▓▌ other way around, doesnÆt it? New band makes ▓▌
▓████▓▌ strong, passionate music; band continues for years ▓▌
▓████▓▌ to release albums of diminishing importance; band ▓▌
▓████▓▌ gets old and stale but sticks around because by ▓▌
▓████▓▌ this point itÆs a career; band eventually breaks up ▓▌

▓████▓▌ Andy Goldman (vocals, guitar, keys)ùthe man who ▓▌
▓████▓▌ tabloids report was most likely to have been behind ▓▌
▓████▓▌ the Maestro curtainùhas teamed up with the ▓▌
▓████▓▌ jazz-tinged percussion skills of TJ Lipple (drums, ▓▌
▓████▓▌ trombone, vibraphone) and the superb melodic ▓▌
▓████▓▌ instincts of John Berry (bass, saxophone) to create ▓▌
▓████▓▌ John Guilt, a project far more creative and diverse ▓▌
▓████▓▌ than its predecessor. And moreover, it has been ▓▌
▓████▓▌ verified with the IRS that these people do, in ▓▌
▓████▓▌ point of fact, exist. The FBI is known to have a ▓▌
▓████▓▌ file on Lipple and Berry marked "Bad-Ass Rhythm ▓▌
▓████▓▌ Section." ▓▌

▓████▓▌ Here we present John GuiltÆs debut full-length ▓▌
