Well it seems that the Posies boys can't get TOO far away
from each...here they are again, this time on a 6 song split
CD.
Notes:
Mr. Auer gets to go first, starting with, as Ken does, an
acoustic track. Tracks 2 & 3 bounce along nicely mostly in
the Posies mold...
Ken gets track 4-6. Track 4 was originally recorded by Bridget
St. John in 1969 (reissued '94). Highly recommended by Ken.
Tracks 4 and 5 feature contributions from Jill Sobule on banjo,
guitar, percussion and human beatbox.
Track 6 is the real gem here in my opinion: just an electric
guitar and Ken's soaring, lovesick vocals. Simple, yet a total
summation of what made the Posies great. (there is a small pop
at about 1:01 that is present on the cd as well) Recorded in 1997.
So what is it gonna be guys? Continue doing one offs like this,
playing odd acoustic/full band shows as the Posies, occasionally
backing Big Star, and contributing to numerous other projects?
I'd suggest forgetting any 'percieved' failures the Posies had
and get back to working fully TOGETHER AGAIN. Get serious boys!
So what if you only gain a cult following-at least it would be
your own cult following...
