│ Martin's first ever 12" record was "You Got To know" by ││
│ Capella. This was typical of the music which was to ││
│ fascinate him to the point where listening simply wasn't ││
│ enough. He had to be involved in manipulating the music ││
│ and fusing different songs together to form one continuous ││
│ mix, just like the old tapes he has of such DJ's like Carl ││
│ Cox, who to this day remains a personal hero. ││
│ ││
│ Before purchasing his first set of turntables Martin had ││
│ learned how to beat mix using on outdated hi-fi system ││
│ with a faulty phono switch. Many moons have passed since ││
│ the early days of the dodgy old hi-fi and after playing at ││
│ numerous local events, guesting at various clubs and ││
│ promoting his own nights Martin was delighted to secure ││
│ his first residency at Tin Pan Alley in Glasgow's City ││
│ Centre. A short time later he was given the Saturday night ││
│ residency at his local club, `The Point`, a 1000 people ││
│ capacity club in his hometown of Motherwell. `The Point` ││
│ was about to witness the emergence of an exceptional young ││
│ DJ talent. ││
│ ││
│ During the summer of 2001 Martin became a weekly guest on ││
│ Clan FM`s drive time show where he was responsible for ││
│ music reviews and was invited to perform a live mix for ││
│ the Saturday night dance show. With his popularity growing ││
│ he decided to `reach out` and attempt to gain more ││
│ widespread recognition and towards the end of 2001 was ││
│ signed to Sublime Events. ││
│ ││
│ Playing with Sublime Events meant that Martin had to take ││
│ up residencies at `The Night Spot` in Livingston and the ││
│ `Universe` in Coatbridge. He was also booked to play at ││
│ the M8 Magazine south coast weekender at Camber Sands and ││
│ Wall Park in Devon where he was to rub shoulders with some ││
│ very high profile DJ`s and promoters. ││
│ ││
│ 2002 was a great year for Martin. He saw his name appear ││
│ on the same bill as DJ`s such as Jon the Dentist, JFK, ││
│ Alex P, Les Hemstock, Daniel Soto, Pascal, Scott Bond, K ││
│ Klass and Eddie Lock to name but a few. He has also been ││
│ lucky enough to see his name and mug shot grace the pages ││
│ of Scotland's leading dance magazine M8 and English based ││
│ Muzik magazine. He has played many guest spots around the ││
│ country including Perversity, Debunk and Nu Generation at ││
│ his favourite club the Arches. August 2002 saw Martins ││
│ greatest achievement to date when he played the final of ││
│ the residents competition @ `Cream` in Liverpool where he ││
│ was placed 3rd out of more than 1200 entries. Oh and did I ││
│ mention that he had the pleasure of hearing one of his own ││
│ bootlegs receive generous airplay on Scotland's largest ││
│ radio stations Clyde 1 and Beat 106. ││
│ ││
│ 2003 brought more guest spots, competition wins and ││
│ recognition for the 24 year old. Martin is now looking ││
│ forward to a very interesting and exciting few years where ││
│ he plans to move into production and take his energetic ││
│ and exciting DJ sets to a wider audience. If you do see ││
│ Martin playing out you can expect to hear a set which will ││
│ fuse chunky house music with techno and anything else that ││
│ takes his fancy on the night. ││
│ ││
│ His latest achievement was playing in Glasgow's MAS club ││
│ alongside Percy X and Mark Broom, where he went down a ││
│ storm. ││
