The history of rhythm-and-blues is filled
with vocal groups whose names ù the Orioles,
the Cadillacs, the Crows, the Flamingos, the
Moonglows, the Coasters, the Penguins ù are
held in reverence by fanatics and devotees.
The Drifters are part of an even more
exclusive fraternity, as a group that
managed to carve out a place for themselves
in the R&B firmament and also define that
music, not only at its inception as a
national chart phenomenon in the early '50s
but also in the decade that followed. Their
place in history is as complex as their role
in it, by virtue of the fact that there are
two distinct phases to their music and the
continuity of their membership, and their
extrordinary longevity ù only the Platters
could claim as great a span of years as an
active recording unit, though the latter
group, due to major differences in the way
they were organized, was far more stable in
its membership and output. The Drifters can
also claim a unique place in popular music
history, as a major R&B group founded at the
instigation of a record-label chief.

by groups who would refuse to release anything but current
year music.Well since that time we have been rocking the
scene with classic rock rips.We have made classic music
mainstream in the scene and have been on top in that area as
the number one group in classic rips. We finished 2001 with
3800 rips.As we moved forward in 2002 we found we were also
releasing alot of quality 2k2 rips and saw that we were competing
in that area.In 2002 we finished with over 5000 rips.In 2003 we
plan to move forward and continue to release "THE NEW STUFF" and
strive to be on top in 2k3 rips.We will also continue to remain
on top like we have for 2 years in the classic rock scene.
