Making mixtapes is a whole different game now. The themes have
been covered, the favorites have been covered, the obscure has
been squeezed dry. What can you do? The Soulsavers have said fuck
it, just gone ahead and put together a collection of their
favorite tracks. No mash-up, no pretension to rarity, no 10
second sample fodder, just simple mixing and an excellent
selection that work together. This thing has sold over 400 copies
at Mr Bongos and Rough Trade alone and its pretty easy to see
why- its good listening. Unfortunately theres no tracklisting,
but nestled in the goodies youll find things like a sitar-reggae
version of Apache, Jay-Walks downtempo favorite Soul Vibrations,
funky pop tunes, Led Zepplin, RJD2, a good selection of female
soul, and loads of under-appreciated, break heavy instrumentals.
