│║ Rupert, the Soul Donkey, was reared on a farm in South Carolina. ║│
│║ From the tender age of 15, he carted loads of get down across the ║│
│║ Southern Donkey way out to a nation thirsty for Soul. Along the ║│
│║ way, he learned about hard work, perseverance and how to do the ║│
│║ Broadway Combination without spilling his oats. ║│
│║ ║│
│║ Sugarman wields his sax with a raw deftness that feasts on the ║│
│║ pounded meat of boogaloo that his band serves him. Anyone who's ║│
│║ heard Scone knows he can play his organ, but he must have eaten ║│
│║ all his greens the day they went to the studio to cut this thing ║│
│║ because it sounds like he's trying to break his Hammond in half. ║│
│║ His right hand is stabbin' and leanin', gruntin' and screamin', ║│
│║ all the while his left is strokin' the bass line. His sound ║│
│║ invokes images of the Village Callers laying down Hector at the ║│
│║ Plush Bunny in 1971. Coleman Mellet gets his piece too, chankin' ║│
│║ his guitar like he's into somethin'. His country pickin' style is ║│
│║ made from stuff that tastes better than it smells. ║│

│║ But of course the real bronco of the group is Rudy Albin who ║│
│║ throws bare backbeats all over the record. Between them they have ║│
│║ harnessed an awesome animal of raw soul power, kicking and biting ║│
│║ at the bit. After the needle has been lifted and the ashes ║│
│║ settle, everybody within earshot will know exactly what a Soul ║│
│║ Donkey looks like and they can all tell their friends how much ║│
