Release Notes: ░██▓
██▒
As turntable styluses are just beginning to cool down from ██░
last year's highly-anticipated, highly-lauded "Pretty Dark ██
Things," CYNE is back with a new collection of tracks that ██
provides both a window into their creative evolution and a ██
summer's worth of classic jams (not to mention what many are ██
calling the best CYNE record since 2003's "Time Being"). ██
Introducing: Water For Mars. ██
██
"The songs on this record were created over the span of ██
about 4 or 5 years (roughly 2004 - 2009), though every track ██
was revisited, mixed, and mastered in 2009. The record ██
displays the full spectrum of the "CYNE sound," including ██
the growth of the band, our collective tastes, and the ██
process of our songwriting. It starts on a positive note ██
about moving forward, building community, and taking on ██
personal responsibility (these are themes that resonate ██
throughout the record). At times, the record grows into ██
something very ethereal and cosmic, alongside a contrast of ██
something that hits harder, musically and lyrically. With ██
each subsequent 'movement' we see a blend of introspective ██
thought, social commentary, and a sound weighted in a more ██
classic, uplifting tradition. This album constantly sways ██
back and forth between the lines of classic hip hop, ██
textural music, and a progressive selection of words and ██
sound -- and, to me, this defines CYNE." - Speck of CYNE ██
██
Joining CYNE on "Water For Mars" are track collaborators ██
Daedelus, Ape School, and Depth Affect. New production ██
includes remixers ROM (featuring Roberto Lange/Helado ██
Negro), Mexicans With Guns, and the fan remix contest winner ██
Jay Appleseed. All other tracks produced by Speck and ██
Enoch. ██
██
*"Water For Mars" is released by Hometapes in a limited ██
edition of 1000 CDs. Each uniquely numbered package was ██
designed by Cody Hudson (www.struggleinc.com) and includes a ██
special CD-exclusive chrome screenprinted CYNE sticker. For ██
more information please visit: ██

**This US Retail version is different from the Japanese ██
release that has been floating on the web for the past 6 ██
months. First of all, the US Retail contains 21 tracks ██
instead of 20. Second, the US Retail contains several ██
tracks that do not appear on the Japanese release: "Fall ██
Through Atlantis", "Find A Way", "Wolf Blitzer", "Elephant ██
Rome (Ft. Daedelus)", "Sleep", and "Fallen Stars". Unlike ██
the Japanese release, no interludes are on the US Retail. ██
Third, the original mix and remix of "Tide of Life", as well ██
as "Cise", appear exclusively on the US Retail. The Remix of ██
"Tide Of Life" was produced by Jay Appleseed, a contest ██
winner who Cyne recruited from several up and coming ██
producers. ██
