   Note: This album starts with a multimedia track (CD-ROM graphic
   novel) and was not inculded with this release (tracks have been
   re-numbered to fit this). If you want the full impact of this
   release please go out and buy it.

   Review:

   This album is one of the many new attempts to intersperse multimedia
   with music. The first track is a CD-ROM graphic novel playable only
   on a IBM compatible PC and the remainder of the album is
   accompanying music to fit the mood created by the graphic novel. The
   music varies from very creative ambient techno with strangely
   entrancing male vocals to piss poor rap techno with the same
   vocalist. While the music remains dedicated to the genre it is so
   widely varied in quality at times it makes the album practically
   unlistenable. The concept and talent are present on the album but
   the music needs a great deal more work in places. Perhaps if the
   band quit trying to duplicate ClockDVA and created a sound for
   itself it might gain a stronger lyrical quality and the half of the
   album that drives the listener into fits of grand mal seizures can
   be rewritten to fit the rest of the album.

.. ... ..... ..............................::::::\/:::::::::::::::::::::::::::

    Today, the 22nd of July, AMOK celebrates its anniversary: 5 years ago
    AMOK was founded! Only a few people know that AMOK originally started
    as a 'sub-label' group of NBD in order to release music that did not
    fit into their releases of the techno genre. When this MP3 group started
    in 1998 we only had three sites and today the number has considerably
    grown - here is the original list of sites AMOK started out with
    (this is a preview of our site list from July 1998);

    Sites:
    ~~~~~~
    SITE NAME           SPEED   STORAGE         STATUS          SITE-OP
    ~~~~~~~~~~          ~~~~~~  ~~~~~~~~        ~~~~~~~         ~~~~~~~~
    Dxxx Xxxxx xxxxxx T-3 16GB WHQ Xxxxxx
    Mxxxxxxx            E-1      9GB              HQ            Xxxxxx
    Rxxxx xxxxxx Xxxxxx	E-1 9GB HQ Xxxxxx

   (Note: the third site is the original NBD WHQ. For those with added
   curiousity, please let me draw your attention to the "site op" row.)
   The first AMOK release, The soundtrack for "Need For Speed 3," ripped
   straight from the PSX (this would be a nuke nowadays...), was set for
   release on July 22, yet with a chaotic start in organizing the group the
   date of this release had to be changed to July 24. Listed below is the
   exact information on the infamous premiere release of AMOK:

   "As a sublabel of NBD the official leader was NBD leader. Back then
   this was Abomb-99 a true pioneer of the mp3 scene, and without him things
   would for sure gone different for nowaday. Abomb-99 died in 1999 due
   cancer, we won┤t forget him, even tho he wasn┤t our founder he was our
   father. The following weeks we completely detached from NBD and got our
   own image."

   Out of our ranks grow friends as well as competitors; we affiliated far
   more than 100 sites in our perpetual existence and have over 6k releases,
   we hereby salute all of our friends and competitors that play by the rules
   and contribute to make the scene an enjoyable place.

   When you ask us nowadays, "What did you do for the scene?" we promoted our
   definition of 'good music' and are among the 5 oldest of MP3 groups still
   active, we asserted some of the basic rules for the first MP3 release
   guidelines as well as promoting the usage of SFV for MP3's (thanks to a
   good friend of ours who coded glftpd extensions back then, widely used)

   When we take stock of ourselves nowadays we are more highly organized and
   exist secured somewhere in a private ircd laminate, but mostly we are proud
   that we never lost our roots that made us do it for nothing other than
   the music we like.

   MORAL DiSCLAiMER: We are very aware of the fact that our releases
     contribute to the growing sale losses of record companies.
     Unfortunately our style primarily targets small, independant labels
     that need sales to survive.

     For these reasons we ask you not to distribute this release on public
     sites or P2P tools; if more and more receive their music from the net,
     artists and labels will have to face even less sells than nowadays.
     Please do not consider this release as a substitute to the original, but
     only as a way to check out and learn about new music.
     We absolutely do not approve of DJs or other individuals that earn
     money from pirated music - Don't let them get their hands on it!

     By buying the albums you like you disperse the guilt we feel by
     releasing this music - Enjoy the music and be fair with the artists!
     YOUR support is required to keep them financially alive and producing!
