Release Notes:
Green Tea has been a name on the DJ scene for quite
a while now, but perhaps more importantly, he has
also been making his own music since the late Æ90s,
when he put together the group Soul in the Hole. He
released his first 12ö in 2006, but Places & Spaces
marks Green TeaÆs long-overdue full-length debut.
Accordingly, it represents all the varied stylistic
strands of his musical personality. While the feel
fluctuates a fair amount from track to track, the
predominant aesthetic here is that of breezy acid
jazz. Jazzanova fans will feel right at home with
most of whatÆs on offer here, especially cuts like
ôEclectic Relaxation,ö which practically runs up to
your face and screams ôRoy Ayers!ö But Green TeaÆs
no one-trick pony either ù ôMaximum Joyö and ôPorto
Seguroö mix the acid-jazz influences with an
insistent house feel, while ôFuture Classicö takes
a trip to Moog heaven for an electro outing spiced
up by a guest vocal from Kero One. It all adds up
to a debut thatÆs danceable and listenable in equal
measure, which is no small feat in any style.
