█░█▒ Freaked-out funky school band work -- a wonderful ▒█░█
█░█▒ collection put together by some diggers who really ▒█░█
█░█▒ know their stuff! As you might guess from the ▒█░█
█░█▒ title, the set features a range of rare tracks ▒█░█
█░█▒ recorded by college and high school bands of the ▒█░█
█░█▒ late 60s and early 70s -- a time when music was ▒█░█
█░█▒ changing heavily in the US, even right down to the ▒█░█
█░█▒ level of local student ensembles! Many of the ▒█░█
█░█▒ tracks here are covers of well-known rock and soul ▒█░█
█░█▒ cuts of the time -- but they're often done with ▒█░█
█░█▒ really odd, inventive arrangements -- and recorded ▒█░█
█░█▒ with instrumentation that's surprisingly ▒█░█
█░█▒ tripped-out for any sort of high school setting -- ▒█░█
█░█▒ surprising use of guitar, keyboards, and other ▒█░█
█░█▒ electric elements -- mixed in with more familiar ▒█░█
█░█▒ horns, and driven home by some massively funky ▒█░█
█░█▒ drumming. Production is also surprisingly great too ▒█░█
█░█▒ -- usually a bit rough, in the best funky 45 mode ▒█░█
█░█▒ -- and sometimes showing a penchant for echo and ▒█░█
█░█▒ other effects that really help augment the grooves. ▒█░█
