Release Notes:

Massive funk from 70s Cuba -- a musical hotbed
that's finally getting its due on the wider global
market! These grooves have way way more to offer
than just the familiar Latin styles you might know
-- as they mix in lots of hard drums, sweet
electrics, and heavy jamming -- all with a style
that's a lot more experimental than most familiar
funk from the US at the time -- even though these
Cuban cats were clearly getting a lot of
inspiration from the American underground! Given
that most numbers here were recorded in the format
of longer-form Jazz and Latin sessions, the players
get more room to jam than on conventional funky 45s
-- which allows for even more creativity in the
instrumentation, and compelling interplay that
really keeps things interesting throughout. And
although there's been other Cuban funk collections
out there in recent years, this one's especially
nice -- with a really inventive track selection
that definitely lives up to the magic of the Havana
scene at the time!
