Andy has been wowing crowds since 2003 with his energetic fusion of
house, techno and progressive sounds. Best known for his residency
for Disco Electronica @ Sankeys he is now making waves in the
production world both on his own and along side good friend and
fellow Disco Electronica resident Lewis Keykay under the alias
'Default'.
Andy's obsession with dance music started in the late 90s when he was
first introduced to The Prodigy and Chemical Brothers, soon after he
was frequently attending House, Techno and Trance nights all over the
north west. Wanting more involvement in the music he decided to
invest in his first pair of decks in 2001 and by 2003 he was playing
week in week out at top house nights across Manchester. It was in
2006 when Andy's DJing career really picked up momentum when he was
offered his residency with Disco Electronica at the then newly
refurbished Sankeys, this residency has seen him supporting scene
heavyweights such as Nic Fanciulli, Oliver Huntemann, Mark Knight and
Clive Henry to name a few. An established part of Manchester's club
scene Andy has played nearly every venue worth a mention in the city
and has exibited his talents further afield at nights such a The
Barfly in Liverpool and Tribal Sessions in Leeds.
Having toyed with music production for years Andy finally decided to
invest in studio equipment and was rewarded with his first release
'Mirage' in November 2008 on Moov Records. At around the same time
Andy and Lewis started producing together as Default, this
partnership has proved to be an instant success with their first EP
'Reflex' being snapped up by James Harcourt's 'T-Freq Digital'
imprint and has received support from the likes of Nic Fanciulli,
Timo Garcia and John Graham (Quivver). Following 'Reflex EP' Default
have been asked to do remixes for Tom Neville's 'Love minus zero' and
Holland's 'Kompressor' labels and have also seen the release of Snygg
on the up and coming 'Manchester Underground Music'. The pair have
now been signed to the newly reformed Plastica (Plastic Fantastic)
label and with releases spanning over 10 years they are confident
that Plastica will have the experience to guide Default to better
things.
