rarely have 4 versions of the same theme been so equally
seductive, each in its own way. especially when it stands the test
of time so brilliantly, so make sure you don't overlook this ep.
this 'london ep' is a heady cocktail of jazz improvisation,
layered vocals, and evocative synthetic textures poured lavishly
over a fruity salad of hypnotic and deep grooves.
blue train was formed in 1992. the line up was originally paul
hazel (computers, guitar) and david westmore (bass, guitar,
vocals) with a stellar array of guests selected from amongst
londons finest jazz musicians. a series of ep's on phat jam and
2kool followed.
in 1997 regular lead vocalist natalia farran-graves officially
joined the group. an ep on masters at work (which went to number
17 in the billboard dance chart) and music for a major canal+
documentary about the internet followed. in 1998 david left the
group to grow humans and generally get himself a life.
there's a compilation album of their works out, 'the lost steps'.
