fused & bruised were one of the second generation of uk breakbeat
labels with a name for eclecticism & a desire to suprise, confront
& challenge. operational from 1996-2001 they released over 30
singles, several compilations and three artist albums. label boss
shack & one-half of the fused team with simon lewin also recorded
as elite force, phrack r & futurecore & the label was made dormant
in order to concentrate on making the music rather than
administering it.
matt & charlie are futurecore and were old friends of shack when
he used to live down in the west country prior to moving up to
london and starting up the fused & bruised label. with little
equipment to speak of, futurecore were the kings of
resourcefulness from an early stage begging, stealing or borrowing
simply to create....the fruits of their labours were an
exceptional blend of unsettling darkside instrumental hip hop and
industrial experimentation - and as you might imagine, this found
favour with the likes of john peel & the wire rather than with
ecstasy-saturated dancefloor journos. because of this, their music
hasn't dated one iota from the day it was released and remains as
valuable as it ever was in the echelons of leftfield electronica.
