For Highpoint Lowlife's first release of 2010, the label have recruited a host
of remixers to take on material from Erik XVI's album, released late last year.
Four different artists offer their own takes on 'Unionens Sista Dagar', with
wildly varying results. First off, TVO offer a sci-fi styled electro overhaul
that's so loaded up with programming activity it's practically falling over
itself. Zinging '80s synths colour Brassica's effort, and Ali Renault's
similarly mid-tempo version is likable enough, but it's Hot City's more
salacious, energetic contribution that's the best of this early batch. Next up
comes a UK garage-goes-IDM remix of 'Kalabaliken I Bender' by Spatial, which
threatens to steal the show, before Gravious serve up a shuffling dubstep
rendition of 'Gravitationskraftens Stilla Vrede'. Finally, Bill Ambrose closes
the set with a super tight electro version of the same track.
